Hi, I’m Aimee, the heart behind A Disability Community (ADC).

My journey into the disability sector began in a very unusual way. At just 18 years old, I became the primary caregiver for twin brothers, both with complex care needs. Life threw me in the deep end — I could either sink or swim. I chose to swim, leaving behind a corporate career to dedicate myself to supporting people with disabilities and their families.

Over the years, I’ve also supported other family members, including my stepchildren, who live with disabilities. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the daily challenges families face — from navigating NDIS funding and managing supports, to finding staff who truly understand their needs.

Professionally, I’ve gained extensive experience across a wide range of care settings — including day programs, respite services, supported independent living (SIL) homes, and one-on-one community and in-home support. During the early rollout of the NDIS, I spent over five years helping participants navigate the system, gaining invaluable insight into what works best for families. I then spent several years in Support Coordination, where I developed a special interest in supporting individuals with Autism, children living in out-of-home care, Aboriginal families (including family preservation), and participants with behaviour support needs.

These experiences inspired me to create A Disability Community — a service built on genuine connection, compassion, and inclusion. Our mission is simple: to empower individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent, and meaningful lives, while ensuring families feel supported every step of the way.

At ADC, we offer tailored, person-centred support designed around each participant’s goals, strengths, and values. Whether it’s daily living assistance, accessing community activities, building independence, or coordinating supports through the NDIS, our team works collaboratively to deliver outcomes that truly make a difference.

We’re proud to be a part of your community — helping every participant grow, achieve, and thrive, one step at a time.
